Denzel Curry:

Denzel Curry

This up and coming Miami native started his artistic path at a very young age, writing poetry and challenging peers to rap battles at the local Boys and Girls Club. Curry’s music career was prompted after his first mixtape, King Remembered Underground Tape 1991-1995, was posted on producer SpaceGhostPurpp’s social media page. Following its release, Denzel became a member of a hip hop group called Raider Klan which included many young South Florida rappers. Curry broke away from the group to pursue his solo career and began working on his debut album Nostalgic 64. His fast-paced, quick witted lyrics bumps hard to the beat maintaining his aggressive flow. Curry has caught the attention of many bring South Florida’s underground rap scene to light. The project started a few years ago with James’s own writing and the collaboration with Smashing Pumpkins’s producer James Iha. James brought in solo artist Lissy Trullie to incorporate melancholic vocals forming their free feeling alternative indie pop sound. Klangstof, notorious for creating ambient soundscapes, is the first Dutch/Norwegian band to ever play at Coachella Music Festival. Their mellow, sweet-sounding aura mesmerizes its listeners into a calm, simpler abyss. Recently signed to Mind of A Genius records, the band released their first studio album Close Eyes to Exit earlier this year. The band’s inspiration of its name stems from the combination of Norwegian word for “reverb” (Klang) and Dutch word for “dust”. Gold Mined recommends tracks, “We Are Your Receiver” and “Hostage“. Stephen “Thundercat” Bruner

Stephen “Thundercat” Bruner is the go-to American multi-genre bass guitarist who has worked with practically every artist in black vanguard music. The apple rarely falls far from the tree for this bassist as he had the good fortune of being part of a musical family. His father was an accomplished drummer working with legendary artists like Diana Ross, the Temptations, and Gladys Knight. Bruner’s oldest brother, Ronald Jr., is a Grammy award winning drummer who has worked with Kenny Garrett and Stanley Clarke. The Bruner brothers were members of Young Jazz Giants with Kamasi Washington and Cameron Graves. Thundercat’s most notable work comes from his musical relationship with DJ/producer Flying Lotus.
