The beginning stages of Indie Reece’s winning art piece.

Last month, GrowHouse held their monthly art gala dedicated to gathering creative minds together through monthly events that hold a friendly competition catering to different art forms centered around hip hop. GrowHouse’s goal is to contribute to the ever-growing art community in the Tampa Bay area by providing a platform where local artists can network, collaborate, and “flex their creative muscle”.

For April, GrowHouse held two simultaneous battles during the night: one between 8 beat makers and another between 2 live painters. At the beginning of the show, topics from the audience were selected to be incorporated by the painters with a final winner chosen by the crowd. Beat makers advanced through single elimination rounds determined by the night’s judges. By the end of the night, Tega took first place for the beat maker battle and Reece won over the crowd with his final live art piece.
